Types:

There are two types of skeletal pigs: a skeletal pig with discs and a skeletal pig with cups.  Usually, there are 2-cup pipeline pigs, 3-cup pipeline pigs, and 4-cup pipeline pigs. Skeleton Materials:

We provide three kinds of skeleton materials. The first kind is stainless steel. Such as 316ss, 316lss, and 304ss. Stainless steel is a highly durable metal. It has good hardness. This quality is primarily due to the presence of two key components: chromium and nickel. Chromium forms an oxide layer on the metal’s surface, protecting it from corrosion and wear. Meanwhile, nickel contributes to the metal’s strength and ductility, enhancing its overall hardness. Besides, it has strong acid resistance. Pigs with stainless steel skeletons can add transmitters. So, if you have the need to add a transmitter you can choose this kind of material.

Carbon steel:

The material of carbon steel is cheaper than stainless steel. But it can’t add transmitters because it will interfere with the magnetic field. But if DN≥300, a transmitter can be added. Because the distance is long enough for them to work separately without interference.

ABS:

When the pig size ≤ DN200, ABS can be chosen. It is more expensive than the other two materials. But it can effectively prevent the explosion caused by the sparks due to impact. So, to guarantee safety, ABS is a good choice. Besides, it is also lighter than the others. And it has strong acid resistance too.

Cup: The cup is a main accessory of skeletal pigs. The material of it is usually rubber, PU, and fluoride rubber, which has better acid and alkali resistance. It helps pigs have good sealing properties. Typically, skeleton pigs come with 2, 3, or 4 cups. Pigs with cups are Uni-directional. They can only go in one single direction.

Disc: The disc is another main accessory. The material of the disc is PU. Discs can help pigs get into the pipes easily. Besides, they have the function of guiding and supporting.

Gasket: The main purpose of the gasket is to isolate the distance between the cups or discs. Gaskets between discs are made of polyurethane. For cups Gaskets, if DN＜300, the material is nylon, if DN＞300, the material is steel.

Other Accessories：

Gauging disc: Generally, the diameter is 80%-95% of the inner diameter of the pipeline. Usually, it is 85%. We can meet customer needs.

Wire brush： The default material is carbon steel, as well as stainless steel and nylon. The wire brush is used to remove the inner diameter of the pipeline.

Spring steel brush: Carbon steel defaults material. Stainless steel and nylon can also be provided. It is usually placed in the front, which is more thorough than an ordinary steel wire brush.

Magnetic steel: The material of magnetic steel is neodymium iron boron, which is mainly used to absorb rust.

Transmitter: Magnetic interference should be considered before adding a transmitter into a cleaning pipe.

Guide plate: The material is PU, which can better help the pig enter the pipeline. At the same time, it also has the function of supporting, increasing the running distance (wear resistance), and making the front discs or cups more wear-resistant. The size of a guide plate is similar to the pipe diameter. It is usually placed at the front. There is no guide plate when there is a brush. Bi-directional pigs generally have guide plates, but few do not.
